Sun Life Financial and the Toronto Raptors team up to help children get active and plan for a brighter life

December 15, 2015

The Toronto Raptors and Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX: SLF) (NYSE: SLF) are teaming up for the Sun Life Financial Money for Life Heritage Clinics. Now in its second year, this unique partnership connects children from multiple ethnic communities across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to the sport of basketball, encouraging them to get active while teaching valuable life planning skills.

The Sun Life Financial Money for Life Heritage Clinics will feature Toronto Raptors alumnus and former NBA all-star, Jamaal Magloire and will be conducted in four communities aligned with Raptors Heritage Nights during the 2015-2016 season. Children ranging from ages six to 14 from the Lithuanian, Chinese, Filipino and Baisakhi communities will have the opportunity to play basketball with Magloire and learn valuable life skills about being active, eating healthy, respect and saving for the future.

“We’re thrilled to once again team up with the Toronto Raptors. We hope that the children participating in the Sun Life Financial Money for Life Heritage Clinics will be as excited about their futures as we are and start to think about planning for a brighter life,” says Bill Ramsammy, AVP, Global Brand and Marketing.

Fourteen of the children who participate in the Sun Life Financial Money for Life Heritage Clinics will also have an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have a Sun Life Financial Money for Life Experience. The Money for Life Experience will give them the chance to attend a Toronto Raptors Heritage Night, watch the game from a Gondola box and stand next to the Toronto Raptors on the basketball court while the national anthem is performed.

“The Toronto Raptors are pleased to partner with Sun Life Financial to present the Sun Life Financial Money for Life Heritage Clinics,” says David Hopkinson, Chief Commercial Officer, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. “The clinics are the perfect way for our two organizations to work together and give back to the communities where we all live and do business.”

The next Sun Life Financial Money for Life Heritage Clinic will be held for the Chinese community on December 19 at Thornlea Secondary School.
